Originally from Zanzibar, Tanzania, in East Africa, Rose travelled to the United States in 2010 in pursuit of education. She attended Kalamazoo Christian High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan to complete her Junior and Senior year of high school before moving to Grand Rapids to attend Grand Valley State University. She graduated from Grand Valley State with a double major in International Business and Marketing and a minor in French. While attending GVSU, Rose was a part of several executive boards including President of African Student Council. A position that instilled her with key Leadership skills that have shaped her as an individual and professional.
As the Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator, Ms. Turuka oversees the ELNC’ marketing processes, both internal and external as well as working with various donors and contributors for the Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative. Her love for serving the community, working with different cultural backgrounds and playing part in being a change agent within the society acts as a motivation and drive to work in the position she is in today.
When she is not working, Rose enjoys dancing, cooking, writing and reading.
