Creating more space for this age group is vital to supporting our zero to five care continuum, which seeks to create positive learning environments for children from birth to kindergarten.
Our Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative has been a proud partner of Early Head Start beginning officially in September of 2017. This federally funded grant enabled us to quintuple the number of zero to three early childhood care and education slots from 16 to 88. In other words, thanks to Early Head Start we were able to create space for five times the number of children in our 11 culturally relevant zero to three classrooms. With Early Head Start we can now serve five times the number of families and make a life changing impact on 88 children’s lives.

Receiving this funding from Early Head Start shows our efforts to provide education to the community’s most vulnerable children have been noticed by our countries top leadership. But we will not stop until we achieve our vision of creating a world where all students have access to the early childhood educational resources they need and deserve.
Experts agree that the majority of a child’s brain development takes place before the age of five, so it is especially important that that they be exposed to learning environments like our Early Head Start funded classrooms. The earlier a child becomes accustomed to the structure of such learning spaces, the more likely they are to achieve their fullest potential. We thank Early Head Start for enabling us to expand our capacity, helping us reach more children with this vital service.
